Agnes was taught to never expect much from her life: maybe a beautiful home, a nice job, a happy marriage.
These were the things all normal people desire, she was told.
Imaginary friends were for children. 
The best she could ever do to help the world was to stay out of the way.
It's a good thing Agnes never believed what she was taught and the world would do right to remember that.
